2. Renewable Energy Project- Each of you will pick a different form of renewable energy to research and present it to the class. I will let you guys decide who wants to do solar, geothermal, wind, or nuclear.
Format- You must prepare your 10-15 minute presentation as if you were an alternative energy consultant and you are trying to convince Duke Energy Progress to switch from using fossil fuels to your chosen form of energy.
Requirements- during your presentation you must include:
1. Explanation of how your energy is generated (you should use models/diagrams) Make sure you summarize the development of this source of energy and what needs to be done to make this energy available on a wide scale.
2. How much energy can be generated by this technology? Is it more of a large scale or small scale solution?
3. Describe the most attractive aspects of this technology? Advantages
4. What are the limitations of this technology? Disadvantages
5. Make sure that you explain why your technology is more attractive than other alternative energy approaches. This is where you will use persuasive argument techniques.
Other items to include:
Cost of start up/production
Savings to consumers/company
Availability
Environmental Impacts
You must include comparative graphs and/or diagrams
Building a model will boost your grade.
You will have 2 weeks to complete your projects but you must turn in a rough draft/outline of basic information by the end of class Monday, April 4th. You will be expected to work on this over the break so that your rough draft is complete.
